SAM SWAN, 27, lives in Sydney, works in a law firm and is in love with her boss MARK STONE.
Mark, 35, is a lawyer who is through with drunken one night stands with the models he meets at his law firm. He loves Sam but is reluctant to tell her for many reasons.
When Mark tries to be with Sam, ex mistakes always get in the way. The models he dated from his firm don’t take no for an answer, so it’s hard for him to get rid of them so he can be with Sam.
Will Mark ever be free from his past?
Will Sam ever find her happy ending with Mark?
Just Saturday nights (c) 2006.
The first time I saw Mark, my legs felt like jelly. I had to hold onto the back of a chair to stop myself from falling onto the floor. I was too embarrassed to talk to him for the first few days. I mainly hid in the photocopy room, which is where I had a panic attack.
‘Just sit down, close your eyes and take a deep breath,’ Monique said.
‘I hope you realise, I remember what happened last time you said that,’ I said, ‘My hair still hasn’t fully grown back yet.’
While I sat breathing poisonous toner fumes, Mark walked in. The room became quiet, so I opened my eyes. I was surprised to see Mark sitting next to me.
He asked if I was alright. I couldn’t talk so I just nodded. He was kind and gave me a plastic cup of cold water. When our fingers touched, I felt a spark. I looked into his eyes and that was the first time I noticed how blue they are. I think that’s also the moment I fell in love with him.
Monique and I shared looks as he did his copying then left.
‘Who the bloody ‘ell was that?’ Monique said.
‘I don’t know but he was really nice.’
‘Mon, I think he’s our boss. ‘
‘So what, he’s still rootable.’
